Crafty Ribbons Design Team Mix Media Notebook with Morlaix Cotton Lace and 3mm Satin Ribbon

Good Afternoon Everyone!

Today I am sharing my notebook that I wanted to decorate and make special for myself to keep notes and ideas in. This is what I came up with . . .

So I started wih a plain notebook! I forgot to take photos of the beginning (but that's the boring part!)

I layered purple acrylic paint over gesso, then used some Distress Ink Sprays to create the colours, layering until I was happy with the results. I used the lovely Crafty Ribbons Morlaix White Cotten Lace and sprayed this with the pink ink to match the colours of my notebook.

I used a silk rose for my main flower and painted / sprayed this too. I played about with the layout of the overall frame and wooden sentiment.

I decided on some of the mix media bits I wanted to use on my notebook and the perfect ribbon! I wanted a thin purple ribbon and chose the 3mm Satin Ribbon in Light Orchid.

I played around with the layout and created a small bow for my metal tag and used the ribbon to hold a mini "scroll" from the owl embellishment.

I plan to use this notebook for jotting down my crafty ideas and inspiration!

This design incorporates things I love like purples and pinks, roses, owls, sparkly bits, sequins and of course lace and ribbon! The Mix Media bits are a selection from Craft Box. The inks I used are Tim Holtz Distress Spray Ink.

Rock Concert Design Team Card using For the Love of Stamps You Rock! Stamps

Good Morning and Hi!

I know it has been a while, I've been suffering with that flu like cold that has been going about and just not felt well enough to do anything. So I haven't crafted or blogged for what feels like ages but I'm finally feeling more like myself :)

So today I am getting back into the swing of things by sharing one of my cards from the February Launch by For the Love of Stamps by Hunkydory - which is available online now!

For this card I have used the You Rock! stamps! One of my favourite sets of all time!!!

Products Used:

You Rock! Stamps

6” x 6” Card Blank, Matt-tastic

Ink Me! Professional Stamping Card

Versafine Ink– Onyx Black

Masking Sheet (cut into triangles to mask the light stream in sections and create the stage)

Distress Inks; Wilted Violet, Broken China

Distress Oxide: Black Soot for edge and with brush to create shadow.

Faber Castell Gelatos: Boysenberry

White Gel Pen

Tape

For this card I inked the background in stages to try and create the lights and stage setting. I stamped the black silhouette people and sentiment last and used a water brush to add shadows and a gel pen to add highlights to the light. Trying to recreate a rock concert atmosphere.

If Friends were Flowers . . . Blending Distress Oxides and Gesso Guest Design Team Card for Imagine Design Create

Hello Everyone!

Today I am sharing another inky card I have created using Imagine Design Create's beautiful Doodled Flowers Stamp Set, Gesso and Distress Oxides.

You can view the original blog post here!

For this card I have also used:

6” x 6” Card Blank

White Heavy Weight Card

Black Card

Blending Tool, Water filled brush

Distress Oxides: Broken China, Wilted Violet

Black Fine liner Pen, White Gel Pen, Double Sided Tape, Foam Pads

I started this card by blending the Distress Oxides across the heavy cardstock. I used the Broken China ink from one side to about halfway and Wilted Violet from the other side to the middle, blending the two together in the centre. This doesn’t have to be neat as it is a background colour.

I then brushed gesso across the whole card and kept the brushstrokes the same way working from the top to the bottom and let this dry completely before the next step.

I used the Oxides to ink the edges lightly, keeping the colours matching the background. I then stamped the flower with the stem in black ink three times across the background, masking off the centre stem, as I wanted to draw the stem going straight down.

Using a fine liner I extended the stem lines to come off the page. I stamped in the big leaves and sentiment in black. Then I took the berry branch stamp and used the Oxide ink to stamp the braches in purple and blue around the edges to fill in some of the gaps.

I then used the Oxides, stamped onto an acrylic block / glass mat, as watercolours to colour in the flowers and leaves. To finish I picked up the watered down ink and flicked it across the page. I also added splashed of water as well and left this to dry naturally.

To make the card I cut some black card as a matt. I used foam tape to adhere the painted square to the matt as I find the foam helps keep the warping flat better then gluing straight down.

I enjoyed experimenting with the gesso and Oxides. I was fascinated that the oxidation came through the gesso and love the white washed effect I tried to replicate here.

Thanks for stopping by,
Sarah x

Up, Up & Away For the Love of Stamps Design Team Card for February Launch on Create and Craft

Good Morning and Happy Weekend!

It's the first Weekend of the Month which means it's For the Love of Stamps launch day!!! :)
Check out Create and Craft now as the show is just starting (9am) and check out the lovely new stamps. I love this collection so much!!!

Today I am sharing my first Design Team card from the February Launch by For the Love of Stamps by Hunkydoryand my card has been made using the amazing set: Up, Up and Away!

Products Used:

Up, Up & Away Stamps, Set Sail Stamps (birds)

4” x 6” Card blank

Ink Me! Professional Stamping Card

Matt-tastic

Versafine Ink– Onyx Black

Promarkers: Sandstone, Ice Grey 1, Black, Berry Red, Mandarin, Tulip Yellow, Purple, Cyan, Grass, Clear Blender

White Gel Pen, Acetate, Red Tape, Folded Card to make a spring, Tape

For this card I stamped the background onto blue Matt-tastic card, leaving gaps where I wanted my balloons to sit. I coloured the mountains with Promarkers and clouds with a white gel pen. I stamped the balloons seperately and coloured using Promarkers and a blender to help with the highlights. I used folded card to make a "spring" for the large balloon, foam pads for the middle balloon and acetate to have the small balloon floating above the card. I wanted to create dimension and have some of the balloons floating away. This was so much fun to make!

Thanks for looking, and don't forget to check out the later show on at 4pm as well!!!

Valentine's Heart Cards using Fiskars Heart Punch with Stampin' Up! and Hunkydory Rose Gold Moments

Good Morning Everyone!

Today I am sharing some cards I made using Fiskars medium Lever Heart Punch with Stampin' Up! stamps / dies and Hunkydory Rose Gold Moments background papers.

I decided to make the cards using different colours and papers.

I had lots of fun with punching these heearts out with my three year old, who helped find the colourful scraps and catched the hearts as I punched them.

I now have a huge bag of hearts as we had so much fun and my daughter kept wanting to make more!!!

It's a simple card with lots of elements but was a lot of fun to make and a fab way to use up a lot of scrap papers :)
